Finding My Balance: Life as an Online Psychology Student
Finding My Balance: Life as an Online Psychology Student

Hey everyone!
Everybody keeps asking me how it is that I study online and still do all these other things. Honestly? It is a work in progress.
Morning Routines Matter
I have discovered that getting my day off on the right foot is everything. Coffee first. Coffee comes first, always.
After that, I look in my course dashboard and immerse in social media. This little switch transformed me completely.
The Kitchen Table University
My “campus” is actually my kitchen table. Some days it’s motivation galore. Other days? Well, the dishes silently judge me, anyway, at least.
Its flexibility is excellent. I am able to study at intervals when I am at work between meetings or late at night when no one is around.
Time Management Reality Check
Those super convenient study schedules online? Yeah, mine don’t look like that.
I break my studying up into 25-minute blocks and use my phone’s timer for them. It is known as the Pomodoro Technique, and it prevents me becoming overwhelmed. Short breaks assist as well.
Social Life vs Study Life
This is the tricky part. Friends don’t always understand that “I’m home” doesn’t mean “I’m free.”
I’ve become better about setting the boundaries. Study period is study period. At the same time, I also make an effort to schedule actual downtime with people I love.
The Psychology Connection
Studying psychology and at the same time, maintaining my own mental health feels meta sometimes. The stress management techniques that I am learning? I practice them day by day.
Self-compassion is so key. Bad study days occur. Progress is not always a straight up and down thing.
What Works for Me
- Special place to study (even a corner)
- Consistent sleeping (yes working on it!)
- Small wins
- Seeking the assistance when necessary
Online learning is a not a fit of everyone, though it is teaching me more than a mere psychology. It is educating me concerning myself.
What about you? How do you keep it all?
